We tend to think that everything has a dark and a light side. We are accustomed to the duality of the world, to the co-existence of opposites. The extremes are expressive and understandable. However, what happens when they are mixed? And are there always only two parties involved in the interaction? In a new shoot, photographer Amer Mohamad reflects on duality using the visual language of fashion.

Duality is initially questioned, starting with the choice of same-gender models. Combinations of clothing only at first glance look like opposition. The looks are complexly matched with usage of large number of details. Each has its own voice in this ensemble. And the overall sound is interrogative. For example, the combination of lace and a tight silhouette of a top is completed by trousers with arrow zippers, which have changed their strict tone of voice to a playful intonation.

The kilt has become silk and asks for a boxing ring. The jacket pretends to be a crop top, leather shorts hint at a beach holiday with their shape, and the brutal cowboy changed his playlist to disco, drinking his morning juice on the pool terrace.

The photographer uses visual aids to test duality. Color or black and white? Complex geometry or minimalism? The viewer surrenders under the onslaught of these questions. Dualism is bursting at the seams, revealing the true face of the plurality that is behind all connection and interaction. Even if it seems that there are only two of you in a room – take a closer look, there are many more.
